welcome!

I hope that you will join my new group. As a student teacher, I often find I have a million and one frustrations or questions and no place to put them. I thought - there has to be others out there feeling this way. Often times, I feel that I lead a double life between being a college student and being a teacher. For anyone feeling this way - this group is for you. Here you can feel free to open up about how difficult it is to juggle these two entirely different ends of the spectrum and at the same time trying to fulfill class requirements while compromising with your supervising teachers and what's required in "the real world". This group is intended to have student teachers share and learn from others (including the professionals) so please join if you have any type of input or advice for those of us entering this field. Invite others to join as well!

Please use this template to introduce yourself to the community so we have an idea of who you are and why you are here :)

1.Name: Catie
2.School: Syracuse University
3.Year: Senior
4.Major or field of study: Inclusive Elementary and Special Education
5.How did you know you wanted to be a teacher? I actually kind of stumbled upon education because I knew I wanted to study a language but didn't know what I could do with it except teach. However, I found it to be incredibly rewarding and something that I am interested and passionate about.
6.In three words, how would you describe your teaching style? Patient, creative, and interactive
7.What is your best teacher quality? I'm a very reflective person and I think that teachers need to constantly be changing themselves in order to better the lives of their students.
8.Any tips? As a student teacher, I've found that using all the resources in a school is the best way to make yourself a part of the community and to get materials and ideas for lessons. Introduce yourself to librarians, therapists, etc. and ask them for their ideas. You'll make instant friends and gain a lot of respect.
ALSO I use proteacher.net a lot for great ideas or just a place to start looking for ideas.
9.Why did you join this group? For all of the reasons I described in the group ^^
